| I received my B.S. and M.S. in Education from Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana and hold an active secondary school state teaching license. I am certified in English, speech communication, theatre, mass communications, and ESOL instruction. I am a retired college professor with 38 years of teaching experience in English, film, speech communication, humanities, and theatre. After spending 23 years on the faculty at College of Lake County, Grayslake, IL, I retired from classroom teaching in 2008 with the title of Professor Emeritus. Prior to teaching at the college level, I taught high school English, speech, theater, mass communications and radio-television broadcasting for 11 years. I was also head coach of my school's speech and debate teams, and served on the Executive Council of the Indiana High School Forensics Association. In addition to teaching, I have worked professionally in theater, film, and radio-TV productions. I currently perform market research for the film industry, and present film lectures throughout Lake and Cook Counties. I host a ongoing film program on Sunday afternoons at the Highland Park, IL Public Library, sponsored by the Highland Park Senior Center. I have extensive experience working with students who need assistance with grammar, composition, reading comprehension, and preparation for the English, critical reading and essay writing portions of the SAT and ACT exams.* I also assist students with their college admission application essays. I am a ESOL certified instructor and can assist English as a second language students with grammar, writing, basic speaking, pronunciation, and accent reduction. During my tenure as a secondary school instructor, I served continuously on the state textbook adoption committee; I have the ability and experience to select the most appropriate learning materials for each of my students and their individual needs. |
- TOEFL Rates: $40/hour one-to-one
- SAT Rates: $40/hour one-to-one; $35/hour Skype
- Other Rates: ACT English, Reading and Writing: $40/hour one-to-one; $35/hour Skype. General ESL and Accent reduction: $40/hour one-to-one. Public Speaking: $40/hour one-to-one.
