In my view, being a member of society involves more than just paying taxes because societies are complex, interconnected systems that rely on the cooperation and contribution of individuals for their functioning and well-being. However, I know the two sides have their own opinions on the argument.

Some think taxes paying taxes is a significant enough contribution to society. Societies have diverse and complex needs that the governments must offer. Tax revenue is the easiest and most efficient way for governments to collect money and run all services, which are the base of governments. Secondly, although individuals can contribute to society in multiple ways, tax money is measurable and comparable. Governments can use it to manage and evaluate individuals' contributions.
